pretty sure this one is called steamboat geyser. it’s the tallest geyser in the world, shooting upwards of 400 ft. however, it hasn’t erupted in over a year. -

after i got back from old faithful, i spent the rest of the day hiking. after getting lost following the wrong path, i finally found my way to the norris geyser basin. this is the porcelain basin. -

day 5 - old faithful. what’s a trip to yellowstone without stopping here? i drove down here first thing in the morning and ate breakfast (if you can call eating the contents of a box of raisin bran with your hands breakfast!) while i waited for it to blow. pretty neat. -

day 4 - yellowstone national park. i didn’t realize how big this place was. after i paid my admission fee, i had to drive another 60 miles (a good chunk of it through construction) to my campsite, which was still only about halfway through the park! on the way, i passed these bision chilling out and took a pic from my car. -

it took forever to find a place to spend the night that wasn’t swarming with bikers. i’d hoped to stay in the rapid city area that night, but i ended up driving into wyoming. there were still tons of bikers at this campsite. in addition to the crowdedness, this site was also the lamest of the trip, as i had no fire ring and it was twice as expensive as the others. i did take a shower there, though, so that was a bonus. -

as you walk up to mt. rushmore, there’s a flag for each u.s. state and territory. here’s ohio. on a slightly related note, i just purchased an ohio flag which i have proudly displayed on the wall of my new apartment. -

mt. rushmore. i couldn’t help but sing the team america: world police theme song to myself the entire time i was here. and yes, there were more bikers here than you can shake a pair of leather chaps at. -

the apparently world-famous wall drug store. another thing the aaa lady told me i should check out. i had a buffalo chili dog here for lunch. it was pretty good, but ridiculously overpriced. oh, and if you couldn’t tell, it was swarming with bikers too. -
